Stand out by showing up on time and following through

Today's email is inspired by an old friend.

Picture this- you're having coffee and exciting ideas are boiling.

But not just exciting ideas, but real business opportunities.

Promises are made with the feeling of genuine intent.

But then life happens.

Ideas remain ideas.

A lot of us have been there, right?

Promises drift into the abyss of "what could have been."

To my friend, this is a problem and an opportunity.

For him, ideas are considered cheap.

He lived by taking a stand and doing just the opposite.

Showing up early to engagements was expected.

He delivered on commitments.

He made every effort to be there when it counted.

His real victory was having consistency in these 3 things over time.

Reliability, Trust, and Integrity.

For him, these were the 3 cheapest promises he could make and stand behind.

You know what? It worked.

His projects operated smoothly.

His clients were always happy to see him.

Referrals for him were abundant.

When I asked him about it, he said-

"It's because I show up on time and follow through with my promises."

I follow his wisdom to this day.

Opportunities knock at the door.

People are eager to collaborate.

Clients and peers are consistently happy.

You'll stand out by showing up on time.

And following through with intentions.

It could be a high-performance wheel to use for racing or motorsports. It could be a luxury wheel made from rare materials. You could make custom wheels on...

I hear and read it often in the startup communities. I think about the countless product ideas I've worked on that never reached the market. Getting to the market with a new product or service can be challenging for many reasons. Over these last several weeks, fear had been holding me back from going live...

The break from the daily exercise brought perspective. It helps that major life changes have sparked a fire to start writing again. Since it has been a while since I last wrote- where do I begin?
